GLOBE Charter School opened in1995 in a storefront in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. Since then, educators, parents and community and business leaders have worked diligently to deliver an educational program that fulfils the goals of our charter.
What are the goals of our charter? GLOBE Charter School is committed to establishing a creative partnership of parents, educators, students, community members, academics, and professionals to revitalize the educational process; piloting a core curriculum that is coherent, continuous and relevant; restoring choice and responsibility to parents, teachers and students; and providing an innovative experimental model that contributes to education reform in the State of Colorado.
To achieve these goals GLOBE Charter School maintains small class sizes of 20 or less, offers all students the opportunity to study a foreign language and develops lessons that meet the diverse learning styles of our students. Service learning is integrated into the curriculum and our professional staff works closely with university faculty and professionals in our community.
To establish a strong partnership we utilize volunteers, publish a newsletter, hold monthly village assemblies and board meetings, schedule quarterly conferences and encourage parents to be active in our community.
Many things have changed over the years, but the foundational premise behind GLOBE has not. We are consistently working towards meeting the goals of our charter and providing a program that is dynamic and offers an innovative choice in education. |
